Famega Vinho Verde 2010

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

Pale straw. Fresh pear, quince, anise and lime zest on the nose. Fizzy and bracingly crisp on the palate, the bright apple and citrus flavors showing impressive cut and energy. Finishes firm, long and delicious, with lingering notes of minerals and citrus peel.

Famega is a wine produced by Caves de Cerca in Portugal. This is a reserve cuvée from Famega, created for the Premier Group, with markedly more flavor intensity and a slightly fuller texture than typical, while still retaining the freshness and delicate spritz that makes Vinho Verde the perfect summer wine, good for cocktails, great with seafood.

A low-alcohol (9.5%), apéritif style of Vinho Verde, which certainly has some sweetness, but which also balances it with plenty of crisp, green fruit flavors.

Nice and refreshing with a little bit of spritz on the tongue. The taste is light with some citrus and melon flavors. Good before-dinner aperitif.

Crisp and refreshing fruit with inviting herbal aromas on the nose and a medium-length, honeyed finish.

A good seafood wine. Dry and tart, but carrying enough apple and lemon flavors to make it lively and refreshing.

This dry, spritzy wine is refreshingly light-bodied and shows a just-off-the-boat freshness on the palate. Floral aromas and lively ripeness make this a wine to remember. If you haven't yet discovered what a wonderfully easy-drinking wine Vinho Verde can be, this is the perfect introduction.
