Faiveley Nuits-St-Georges Premier Cru les Damodes 2016

Winemaker's Notes:

Not yet reviewed; 2015 vintage rated 91-93 points and 'Outstanding' by Allen Meadows (Burghound): This is completely different with its brooding and reserved nose of ripe extract of black cherry along with plenty of earth, floral and sauvage hints. The powerful and concentrated middle weight plus flavors possess a lush and velvety mouth feel while displaying ample muscle on the structured, serious and impressively persistent finale. Like the Clos de l'Ecu, this moderately rustic effort will need patience. Drink: 2030+.

Bright dark red. Captivating precision to the aromas of flowers crushed stone chocolate and cardamom. Sweet silky and smooth but with excellent energy to the dense berry and spice flavors. Still a bit youthfully tight but spreads out impressively on the long perfumed finish. This weightless wine leaves the salivary glands quivering. Stephen Tanzers IWC.

This is also quite spicy with ripe and well-layered aromas of red and blue pinot fruit that is satisfyingly fresh. The rich, dense and enveloping flavors possess excellent phenolic maturity as well as outstanding depth and length on the mouth coating... Burghound.
