Classic Mazis nose of mostly red fruits cut with pungent game, fur and that unmistakable sauvage character followed by big, robust, chiseled, powerfully built, rich flavors and terrific length. Mazis can sometimes be a bit rustic but the tannins here are sophisticated and perfectly integrated though the sheer depth of extract certainly contributes to this impression. Faiveley is underrated in my view as a source of great Mazis-Chambertin and this too is highly recommended.

- "...flat out gorgeous ripe pinot fruit and deep, rich and expressive plum and earth notes of superb nuance. The flavors are classic Mazis with that unmistakable sauvage character running the length of the wine and a massive level of dry extract that renders the flavors almost thick yet there is nothing heavy or inelegant about it...92-95."
