Faiveley Chambertin-Clos de Beze Grand Cru 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

"_Don't Miss!_ Discreet but not invisible wood serves as a backdrop for the airy, ripe and very pure red and dark cherry, earth and wonderfully broad-ranging spice notes. There is terrific punch to the big, robust, tautly structured and well-muscled flavors that ooze with minerality and buckets of mid-palate sap that buffers the prominent tannic spine on the youthfully austere finish. This massively long effort should age glacially but gracefully for several decades." - Allen Meadows, Burghound *(93-96 Points)*

As aromatically complex as the Clos des Cortons is, the Clos de Bèze goes it one better with a dazzling array of spice, earth, mineral, fruit and subtle floral aromas that change every few seconds but continue onto the elegant, pure, transparent and ... Medium red. Sappy, youthfully medicinal flavors of raspberry and black cherry; slightly reduced. Concentrated and powerful but a bit musclebound today, finishing with a tannic toughness. But this has terrific energy and noteworthy length. I'd sock it... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Pinot Noir wine from Burgundy in France. 2004 Faiveley Chambertin Clos de Beze Grand Cru 750ml

($233) Bright, deep red. Extremely closed on the nose, hinting at red berries, menthol and oak spice. Then dense, sweet and rich but dry and sullen. For the first 24 hours, I found little verve or personality, and the tannins were dry. But with exten... Stephen Tanzer. A muscular wine, with power and grace in equal measure. The nose is restrai ned, hinting at spice and leather, but with the first sip the explosion of cherry, plum, vanilla and chocolate flavors start to build, resonating for minutes on the finish.
