Arriving from the rolling hills north of San Francisco Bay, Failla's first harvest of Hudson Chardonnay was whole-cluster pressed into French oak with about 25% going into a concrete egg. Seductive notes of salted caramel and pearskin combine with roasted hazelnut and brioche in the nose. The palate offers a rich, viscose texture nicely integrated with age-worthy acidity for an extended finish. Try this wine with escargots, oily fish and rich sauces such as beurre blanc or carbonara. 325 cases produced.
