I may have missed the difference between this and the Gran Reserva 2007 but admittedly, I didn't have them at the same time. Still a healthy wine and everything I expected from Fabre Montmayou.

Tasted this wine with a wine group. It was a unanimous success. Fruity with plenty of tannins; good structure and will definitely keep for a few more years. This wine was given a big thumbs up from all members of the group. Price in UK was £10.99 (Average price of case in which purchased was £6.67)

Winemaker's Notes:

88 points Stephen Tanzer (IWC): Bright ruby-red. Blackberry and licorice scents complicated by a musky leathery element. Silky, dense and sweet, with flavors of dark berries, smoked meat and chocolate lifted by nicely integrated acidity. Finishes with a repeating note of dark chocolate. Packed with fruit, and a very good value. (Jan/Feb 2010)
