What to Expect
Oregon has only recently emerged as a source for premium wine and is winning fans over to their somewhat earthy style of Pinot Noir. With vineyards a bit cooler than most of California's, yet warmer still than Burgundy, Oregon's Pinot Noirs feature a synthesis of ripe fruit, ripe structure and transparency that draws on the strengths of both. The wines tend to have a touch of earthiness and a sense of transparency that many Pinots from California lack yet the fruit profile, full of dark berries, is decidedly warm-climate in nature.
Editorial Reviews
The fruit here is ripe and still a touch matte with split leather and spice tones over a meaty, slightly roasted core. This has rich fruit but the great acids keep the wine light on it's feet. The tannins are very soft and ripe adding volume in the mouth and length on the finish with it's cola and cinnamon spice notes. Perfectly nice yet uninspired Oregon Pinot 88pts

Don't miss this superb vintage. Mother Nature kindly gave Eyrie beautiful wines in 2005; unfortunately she wasn't very generous with the quantity! Bright red color. Strikingly fragrant nose offers a complex bouquet of fresh red berries, Asian spices, pungent herbs and rose. Juicy strawberry and raspberry flavors are silky in texture, with mounting sweetness and fine-grained tannins adding gentle grip. An extremely elegant, fresh and vibrant wine, with excellent finishing lift, clarity and persistence. This refused to let go of my palate, which was fine by me. These are the read more...
