Eyrie Vineyards Pinot Noir Dundee Hills Estate Grown 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Eyrie’s attentive vineyard practices focused on picking at just the right time in order to capture optimal Pinot flavor. The wine was then aged in mostly neutral French oak for nearly two years, resulting in a wine that accurately expresses Pinot Noir’s inherent varietal characteristics. The deep, rich scents and flavors are enhanced by a long and lingering finish. It is a wine that pairs exceptionally well with food. Pair With: Venison chops with blackberry compote, salmon with bacon & lentils.

Three years later, again in Paris, and the following year in Beaune, The Eyrie Vineyards 1975 Pinot noir brought international attention to Oregon, a wine region unfamiliar to almost anyone except a handful of hardy pioneers. With these two tastings, Oregon won its first recognition as the New World home for Pinot noir. Read less

Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

The fruit here is ripe and still a touch matte with split leather and spice tones over a meaty, slightly roasted core. This has rich fruit but the great acids keep the wine light on it's feet. The tannins are very soft and ripe adding volume in the mouth and length on the finish with it's cola and cinnamon spice notes. Perfectly nice yet uninspired Oregon Pinot 88pts
