TASTING NOTES: This delicious, crowd pleasing Cabernet – consistently named a Wine Enthusiast “Best Buy” – delivers serious bang for the buck! It’s packed with lip smackingcflavors of blackcurrant, black cherry and plum, with subtle hints of dark chocolatecand spice. VINEYARDS: Excelsior’s vineyards are characterized mostly by calcareous clay soils, with some parcels planted to shale. These limestone-rich soils are well drained, which allows the vines to stress, resulting in small, concentrated berries. The Cabernet vines range from 4 to 23 years of age. Robertson experiences afternoon winds that cool the vineyards on hot days. VINTAGE: 2012 is widely regarded as the greatest vintage Robertson has ever experienced, with the vines producing excellent quality fruit along with generous yields. Weather conditions remained warm and dry throughout the harvest season without the typical late summer heat waves, resulting in extremely healthy grapes that were able to be harvested at peak ripeness. VINIFICATION AND MATURATION: The grapes were hand harvested, de-stemmed and crushed. The wine was fermented in closed stainless steel tanks until dry, with pumpovers of one hour performed twice daily. 40% of the wine was aged in a combination of French and American oak for nine months. - Winery Varietal Blend: 90% Cabernet Sauvignon 10% Petit Verdot Alcohol Content: 14.5% TA: 5.45 g/l pH: 3.6 RS: 2.51 g/l

Bright dark red. Currant, blackberry and licorice aromas show a candied quality and a touch of reduction. In a sweetish style, with good intensity and harmonious acidity to the dark berry flavors. Hints of menthol and mint on the slightly stunted finish. Will this reduced wine show more give with another 6 to 12 months in bottle? This 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon has good fruit concentration on the nose with ripe raspberry, wild strawberry, cedar and a touch of tobacco. The palate is clean and fleshy on the entry with rounded plump strawberry fruit dominating the mid-palate and a clean, persistent commercial finish that attests to conscientious winemaking. Drink now-2013. Dark, with fleshy and slightly jammy plum, fig and boysenberry fruit notes framed by medium-weight toast. Contains Merlot, Petit Verdot and Shiraz as well. This same wine is also available under the Hands label. Drink now. 60,000 cases imported. -JM This delicious, crowd pleasing C...

Black berries, leather and cigar box spice unfold on the nose, while flavors of lush black plum, cherry, prosciutto and mocha fill the creamy mouthfeel and lead through to the long finish. A terrific value Cab that's a great choice for company to pair with a roast or steaks; drink now. L.B.
