Excelsior Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

A lot of South African Cabernets have this earthy funkiness to it that tastes like the old world and the new world came together and had a party. Everyone who I recommend this wine to keeps coming back and buying 5-6 bottles of it. Blackish plum in color. A medium-to-full bodied wine. Aromas of ripe blackcurrant and plummy fruit with a hint of mint. Toasty oak aromas and sweet fruit flavors are balanced by soft ripe tannins. Good structure with a nice, lengthy finish.'

Excelsior Cabernet Sauvignon is dark plum red in color with a nose of black currant, plum, earth and spice. Medium-full in body, it is dry with moderate acidity and soft, ripe tannins. It offers rich, intense flavors of plums, black currant and toasty oak. a bit strange and alluring to me because i got a strong seaweed kind of smell and taste to it that obviously brought to mind sushi or rice balls (which are wrapped in sushi). medium bodied with blackberries and cherries in the undercurrent, but it leaves a little to wonder about: the taste falls of short in the end
