The 2008 Pure Evil Chardonnay received partial barrel fermentation. It offers up a nose of toast, baking spices, baked apple, and tropical aromas. On the palate a hint of butterscotch emerges to complement the wine's lively acidity. Drink this medium-length Chardonnay over the next 2 years. It is a very good value.

This wine is anything but evil. What could be nicer than top-rate Chardonnay fruit from some of South Australiarsquo;s best regions made into a voluptuous wine by Chris Ringland mdash; and at a steal of a price? It has white peach stone fruit character, a luscious textural mouthfeel and a touch of French oak influence. Its creaminess is balanced by an elegant freshness.

The 2005 Pure Evil Chardonnay spent some time in French oak. It is light gold-colored with an attractive perfume of butterscotch, spice box, baked apple, and poached pear, more like the nose of a wine three times the price. Medium-bodied, it delivers intense, ripe, spicy flavors buttressed by good acidity and a long finish. This is an awesome value in Chardonnay.

Light yellow. Smoky, lees-accented apple and pear aromas offer good depth and focus. Fleshy orchard and pit fruit flavors are firmed by juicy acidity and carry through a sweet, chewy, lightly earthy finish. Plenty of flavor for the money here.
