Made from alternate row plantings of Swan, Calera and Mt Eden heritage clones that yield the most complex and captivating wines in the line up. The aromas are vibrant and piercing, evocative of small alpine red berries and freshly ground exotic spices. The mouth-feel is snappy and crisp with excellent tension. The finish is persistent with suggestions of ocean spray, unsweetened cocoa, salted olives and freshly crushed bay leaves.

What started as a hobby in 1998 soon grew into an award winning winery. Ken Bloom decided to learn a little bit about making wine when his brother Jim decided to plant his own vineyard in the Hopland area of Mendocino County, CA. From Hobby to Winery, From California and Yakima Valley to Whidbey Island The first harvest was 1998, and Ken and Virginia traveled to California to help with that first harvest and each year since then. Jim makes sure the best grapes are saved for Bloom Vineyards Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Ken and Virginia have spent time each summer and fall visiting vineyards in Eastern Washington walking the rows tasting grapes and talking to growers to find the best grapes to make their Washington wines. The main source of grapes is in the Yakima Valley area, with Semillon and Sauvignon grapes from Cruz Vineyards and Syrah and Viognier from Julie Bosma.
