External Reviews for Evans & Tate Red Bordeaux Blend Margaret River Cabernet-Merlot
A big, dark red from Down Under. Blackcurrant, plums, and chocolate explode on the palate, with the ripe fruit balanced out by nice smooth tannins.
With a microclimate similar to Bordeaux- cool maritime influence and gravelly soils- Australia’s Margaret River is a region that’s become famous for lush, seamless Cabernet Sauvignons. And this 2005 from Evans & Tate is not only a delicious Cab but a stunning value. The vintage was outstanding and the grapes were harvested at peak ripeness. A slow maceration extracted deep color and richness then the wine was aged 6 months in French oak barrels. The balance is impeccable and the overall experience is that of a $30+ Cabernet.
