Classically structured the palate bursts with flavors of sweet frambois strawberries, red cherries and mocha. The lush fruit combined with the baking spice notes from aging in French oak creates a defined Pinot Noir with elegance and length.
Founded 25 years ago by master winemaker Tony Soter of Spottswood fame, Etude is dedicated to mastering the craft of winegrowing. According to Soter "There’s no better vehicle with which to study or practice the craft of winemaking than Pinot Noir." Working with Soter in this oenological quest for perfection are veteran winemaker Jon Priest and viticulturalist Franci Ashton. Together, this talented trio works to transform the very finest Carneros grapes into world-class wines sought out by the most discriminating wine lovers. This 2009 offers aromas of black cherry, Asian spice and a concentrated fresh fruit core. Consistent with the nose, the palate also demonstrates the qualities of a well balanced Pinot Noir: refined tannins, bright acidity, a generous mouthfeel and a lingering finish. Due to the cool conditions of 2009 vintage, this wine offers an exceptional fresh acidic structure and fruit balance, which furthers its Burgundian like qualities.
