Cherry, sandalwood and strawberries in a wine of pure grace. Ripe, full, but not in any way overdone. Perfect harmonies of scale, and one of the classiest wines on the table.
Smooth and polished, with dashes of cherry, herb, sage and cedary oak. Needs a little time in the bottle to soften.
Elegant and supple, with a polished texture and pretty black cherry, tea, plum and cola flavors that are complex, picking up light oak and anise on the finish. Drink now through 2005.
Dark for a Pinot, suggesting great extraction, and vibrantly fruity. The flavors are rich and sweet with cherry and black raspberry, accented by Oriental spices and oak. Silky and elegant in the mouth, but a firm backbone of acidity lends structure.
Well-balanced, showcasing a focused, complex core of black cherry, anise, blackberry and nutmeg. Finishes with the right amount of tannin and good length. Drink now through 2005.
Founded 25 years ago by master winemaker Tony Soter of Spottswood fame, Etude is dedicated to mastering the craft of winegrowing. According to Soter "There’s no better vehicle with which to study or practice the craft of winemaking than Pinot Noir." Working with Soter in this oenological quest for perfection are veteran winemaker Jon Priest and viticulturalist Franci Ashton. Together, this talented trio works to transform the very finest Carneros grapes into world-class wines sought out by the most discriminating wine lovers. This 2007 Pinot is aged 12-14 months in French oak barrels. Parker scored it 90 points and Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored it 92 points saying "A beautiful Pinot Noir, deeply flavored and complex. It shows a silky, elegant mouthfeel, with powerful flavors of cherry and raspberry purée, mocha, Dr. Pepper and smoky sandalwood. Feels solid and impressive in texture, an important wine, and will drink well though 2014."
