Etude Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

A big rich powerfully built youngster. Packs in layers of fruit in a dense gutsy concentrated style built around intense currant blackberry lead pencil and cedary oak flavors. Can't wait to see how this one turns out.

Etude Wines is dedicated to mastering the craft of winegrowing. In classical music, an etude is a composition with a technical focus that allows the musician to practice a particular technique. Similarly, Etude wines are the product of deliberate concentration on the instructive variables of the craft. The end game is not edification alone, but rather the wine itself as a source of enjoyment. Chopin piano etudes are notoriously difficult but sublimely beautiful… this is an example of the practicing craft transformed to art. Founder and self described winegrower Tony Soter puts it this way: “There’s no better vehicle with which to study or practice the craft of winemaking than Pinot Noir. It is the most challenging, unforgiving and quixotic of all wine grapes, and yet the most delicate and transparent.” “Make no mistake it is a humbling pursuit, but when it’s right, Pinot Noir is a glorious and moving thing. It is in the pursuit of that experience that we all work.” Laboring alongside Soter in this oenological quest for perfection are veteran winemaker Jon Priest and viticulturalist Franci Ashton. Together, this talented trio works to transform the very finest Carneros and Napa Valley grapes into world-class wines sought out by the most discriminating wine lovers. In addition to its widely acclaimed Carneros Pinot Noir and legendary Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Etude has also developed a loyal following for Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Merlot. Read less

Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

A bold, rich, concentrated wine with lots of flavor dimensions and excellent structure. Dense and complex, with currant, anise, cedar and fresh earth flavors, it picks up chocolate and mocha on the finish, and should only get better over the next couple of years. Best from 2005 through 2013.

This is a great Cab that showcases the agreeability of certain Napa Cabs. It's tightly would now, with acids and rich tannins overshadowing the pure, sweet blackberry, black cherry and cassis flavors. Impressive for its intensity, power and harmony. Drink tonight, or cellar it for a decade.

15.2% alcohol; from 30-year-old vines in Block 6 of Vine Hill Ranch Vineyard) Bright ruby-red. Complex nose melds dark berries, dark cherry, black licorice, black olive and smoked meat; jammy without being cooked. Suave, sweet and tactile, with more ... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. Even though he is making Pinot Noir in Oregon, Tony Soter continues to excel with his offerings from Napa. Etude's big, deep ruby-colored 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa offers notes of earth, spice, vanilla, and copious quantities of black fruits. Still playing it close to the vest, its medium to full-bodied, tannic, structured, pure, layered, impressively endowed 2001 requires 2-3 years of cellaring; it will drink well for 12-15 years.

The classic, deep ruby/purple-tinged 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa offers aromas of tobacco leaf, cedar, black currants, tar, licorice, and espresso. Full-bodied, powerful, and opulent, it can be drunk now or cellared for 15 or more years. Robert Parker. A Cabernet Sauvignon wine from California in USA. 2004 Etude Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml
