Etude Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2005
Another one of my favorites when visiting the winery. This exemplifies the Rutherford dust experienced in numerous Napa Valley wines mixed in with the red and dark berries on the nose. A combination of dark and red fruits on the palate, full in body, amazing complexity, concentrated dark flavors and textural. The Rutherford dust lingers on the finish providing great character, a multi dimensional wine with a long enjoyable finish.
Nice and fragrant nose. The mouth feel is lush and super structured. Some black and red fruits of cassis, blackberries, and pomegranate. A wonderful Cella’s chocolate wrapped cherry note. Some anise and tar. A good long finish. 91/100
Wow! This wine is incredibly delicious! This is one powerhouse Napa Cabernet. Loaded with a chocolatey cherry flavor and lots of big, juicy fruit. This wine is like drinking a dessert in a glass.
Good wine but will get a lot better with time. I'm going to give my next bottle 3 more years.

Founded 25 years ago by master winemaker Tony Soter of Spottswood fame, Etude is dedicated to mastering the craft of winegrowing. Working with Soter in this oenological quest for perfection are veteran winemaker Jon Priest and viticulturalist Franci Ashton. Together, this talented trio works to transform the very finest Carneros and Napa Valley grapes into world-class wines sought out by the most discriminating wine lovers. This 2005 Cabernet is handcrafted from several unique vineyards representing the major benchland sub-appellations of Napa Valley—Rutherford, St. Helena, Oakville and Calistoga. The blend for the 2005 bottling consists of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon (98%) and just 2% Cabernet Franc. The wine spent a minimum of 24 months in French oak barrels, 80% new. Wine Enthusiast Magzine scored this wine 95 points saying "Etude's 2005 defines power and authority, Napa style. It's hard to imagine a Cabernet Sauvignon more explosive in blackberry, cherry and chocolate fruit flavor. Yet the structure is superb, with firm but ultrarefined tannins providing an architecture to house all that richness. Beautiful now, and should age gracefully for a decade." Limited
Very tightly wound, with a bundled mix of spicy dried currant, sage, mineral and deep, rich berry flavors that slowly unfold, offering more depth, richness and persistence on the finish. Best from 2011 through 2017. 4,000 cases made. -JL Wine Spectator. A Cabernet Sauvignon wine from California in USA. 2005 Etude Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml
