Etude Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon(2002)

The Cabernet harvest of 2002 may be a vintage to rival any in recent history and may in fact be one of the strongest in the last three decades. Enormously complex, deep, dark, rich and polished, with layers of concentrated black cherry, blackberry, currant and anise. Framed by pretty toasty oak, the fruit holds a firm upper hand, turning richly tannic on the finish. Best from 2004 through 2015.-Wine Spectator

(includes about 20% co-fermented cabernet franc) Good full medium ruby. High-pitched aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, tar, menthol and licorice. Higher-toned and higher-pitched than the estate cabernet, with flavors of blueberry, violet and minerals framed by juicy acidity. Here the firm tannins are a bit less integrated, at least in the early going.
