Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

The white wines of Puligny-Montrachet are probably the most famous and most widely acclaimed in the world. This is undoubtedly due to the local microclimates and the clay, siliceous sand and lime contents of the soil. The domaine of Etienne Sauzet is made up of 26 acres, much of it in the heart of the premier crus vineyards of Puligny-Montrachet. Sauzet wines are superbly finished, fruity, full-bodied and authoritative examples of white Burgundies.

The grapes for this wine are picked from 7 different parcelles which are vinified separately and then blended. Delicate clean aroma.....perky citrus acidity..There is some oak in there..but very awkward at the moment...maybe a long open would help...I expected more from this top grower in a top vintage..but maybe time will show it better.

($70) Peach and minerals on the nose. Offers attractive subtle sweetness, with a solid steely spine and a juicy quality. A bit more convincing on the back end than the Chassagne villages, but still with a faint hard edge. Stephen Tanzer. Representing an assemblage of fruit from seven diverse parcels and nearly as many separately-vinified lots, the Sauzet 2007 Puligny Montrachet offers a bitter-sweet aromatic melange of iris, ripe peach, and piquant peach kernel. Exhibiting the tensio... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. A Chardonnay wine from Burgundy in France. 2007 Domaine Etienne Sauzet Puligny Montrachet 375ml
