Editorial Reviews for Etienne Guigal Cote Rotie Brune et Blonde
Old wood, a bit of minerality, dried fruit, lots of dried herb, Provençal herbs, black olives, a touch of sun dried tomato and smoke. A touch thin on the palate, this lacks some depth but does show fine acid and very soft tannins. Lovely pick up on the leathery, slightly gamy finish with surprising length. Some burnished dark almost nutty, toasted nut, cocoa plum fruit. Finishes with meaty flavors and austere tannins showing. Very solid but lacks an extra gear. 88pts

At first the Brune et Blonde was pungent with barnyard and earth, but as it sat in the glass, notes of warm blackberry tart with a whiff of raw smoked bacon and chalky minerals came forward. On the palate, it was clean and bright with sour blackberry fruit and savory meaty notes. Pepper and herbs dominated the finish and completed the experience. Beautiful.
Lots of dirt, chili pepper, gaminess, and horse piss on the nose. Very enjoyable. The body has really nice red fruit acidity and highly softened tannins, with some citrus and tropical fruit on the finish.
musty, damp, earthy aromas, some old leather, gaminess. dried dark fruit components on the palate, rust, a bit of peper vegatalness, tannins have definitely softened, lingering finish
