This wine in simply awsome. Let it decant for a good 20 mins before drinking... it opens up nicely. I won't type too much... it's simple, great tasting and goes for ny occassion... sure crowd pleaser,,, or a pleaser for one! :)

Opens with a ton of eucalyptus on the nose and palate, mixed with menthol. A bit off-putting. After 45 minutes, the standard cab fruit shows up: dark fruit, black cherry, bit of cola. Tannins and acidity are a bit out of balance.

Estancia relies on the benefits of boutique-style winemaking techniques, including whole-cluster fermentation, gentle punch downs, and basket pressing. Our Monterey-based winery uses gentle gravity-flow systems to minimize aggressive tannins and bitterness. It is this crafting of wines—from grapes to bottle—that results in our consistent and superior wine quality. VINEYARDS: We’re convinced that in the world’s best wines can be found the true essence of the place from which they came. We grew the fruit for this Cabernet Sauvignon in our Keyes Canyon Vineyard in Paso Robles. Hot days and cool nights, thin soils and stressed vines—these are the hallmarks of Keyes Canyon. Vines struggle to produce fruit here, resulting in tiny clusters with high skin-to-juice ratios which create deeply concentrated wines with intense flavors. This southwest benchland vineyard, planted at 450 feet in elevation, boasts a half-dozen soil types, including sandy clay loam. It has proven to be a perfect vineyard for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. APPEARANCE: Deep crimson AROMA: Black cherry and clove aromas with notes of tobacco and cigar FLAVOR: Lavish, mouthwatering tannins mid-palate, complemented by black cherry, vanilla, and dark chocolate flavors with a long, lingering, toasty finish VARIETAL COMPOSITION: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon 9% Petite Sirah 6% Petit Verdot 2% Merlot 2% Malbec AGING: 8 months in oak barrels; 35% new TOTAL ACIDITY: 6.4 g/L pH: 3.74 ALCOHOL: 13.5%

At Estancia, over 2000 acres of vineyard lands ensure that they have direct control over how grapes are farmed and managed. This Cabernet Sauvignon comes from their Keyes Canyon Ranches in Paso Robles. Growing conditions in Paso Robles are extreme temperature swings are greater than in any other California appellation. The rugged landscape, unique microclimate and infertile soils at Keyes Canyon Vineyard produce Bordeaux varietals with low yields, small clusters, tiny berries and high skin-to-juice ratios for concentrated wines with intense varietal character. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was aged 14 months in American oak and French oak, 25% new, this Cab shows intensity and style that go way beyond its modest price tag.
