Esser Vineyards Chardonnay California 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

A brilliant light straw in color, the wine’s aromas are keyed on ripe citrus, pear, and baked apple, with some high notes of white flowers. Just a touch of sweet, creamy oak helps to round out the wine’s aromatic profile. On the palate, it is pleasingly full and fleshy, with a firm core of grapefuity acidity. A great match for all but the richest seafood preparations, it also pairs beautifully with simple poultry dishes and light cheeses, especially chevre. Also terrific as an aperitif or a refreshing sip anytime!

This smells like fruit salad, full of peach, pineapple, even some cherry in a very fruity style. On the palate this is surprisingly bright, if a bit simple, with distinct notes of vanilla and pineapple fruit in a medium weight style. The finish is short but clean and balances the ripe fruit against bright acidity. A clean style well suited to simple preparations of white fish. 84pts

Lemon, melon, oak, and vanilla. Typical creamy marshmallow - really nice.

Smells surprisingly of sweet pickles, and has that same level of acidity and sourness... odd, but good.

Tasting Notes:

Bright, fresh aromas of pineapple, citrus and spice. Full-bodied and lush on the palate framed by crisp acidity. Notes of Meyer lemon, vanilla and toast accent the bold, ripe flavors of tropical fruits and is followed by a long, crisp and expansive finish.
