The next stop on our tour is a jagged rock ledge about seven feet tall along the side of the road, which Anna shows us to illustrate the qualities of Empordà soil. The top layer is sandy, and below that, granite. Anna plucks a plant that resembles rosemary from the ground. “This tells us the land is acidic,” she explains and hands it to me. I break the leaves, rub them between my fingers, and wonder if this herbaceous smell will be present in the wines we’ll taste later. Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
