Esk Valley Chardonnay 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

Hawkes Bay is generally the warmest winemaking region in New Zealand and is the area that produces most of the best cabernet/merlot wines and a lot of the top chardonnays. The 2010 Chardonnay gives notes of ripe melon, guava and pear tart with hints of honeycomb and lightly browned toast. Medium bodied with a lovely silken texture, it has relatively high acid and a long honeydew finish. Drink this one now to 2014+.

The old concrete vats, the layout of the buildings, and the absence of modern technology mean the people at Esk Valley have had to make wine in a simple, honest, hands-on way. The people at Esk Valley are as important to the wine-making process as the vines and the high quality grapes they produce. The main pre-requisite for working at Esk Valley is a genuine passion and excitement for wine. Read less
