Errázuriz Estate Pinot Noir 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

Purpurrot.

Errazuriz was founded in 1870 in the Aconcagua Valley, 65 miles north of the capital, Santiago, and at the foot of Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Western Hemisphere, and one of the seven summits of the world. Recognizing that this valley was ideal for growing grapes, with its hot, dry summers and cool Pacific Ocean breezes, Don Maximiano Errazuriz sent for the finest clones from France, and with tenacity and perseverance transformed this barren land into a world-class vineyard. Today, the tradition lives on with Eduardo Chadwick, the fifth generation of his family to lead this exceptional estate. Eduardo’s work has been colossal, bringing Errazuriz into a new era where it is acknowledged as a producer of world-class wines, and opened eyes around the globe as to Chile’s incredible and diverse sites. As an estate winery, Errazuriz strives to produce the finest wines through meticulous attention to every stage of viticulture and vinification, from grape growing in the Aconcagua, Casablanca and Curico valleys, to winemaking with the most natural techniques. An emphasis is placed on the delicate handling of the wines, with the aim of producing wines with elegance and complexity. It is this dynamism and passion for wine that has made Errazuriz such an internationally respected producer of quality wines. Check us out at www.errazuriz.com Read less

"This is a thick, fruity wine, as if someone has pushed blackcurrants through a sieve. It has a single, fruit-based note; like a band led by its bass guitar, which drowns out everything else and just leaves you resonating." Read more on http://www.sedimentblog.com read more... A very approachable wine with loads of personality. the nose greets you with cherry, raspberry jello, tiramisu and tobacco leaf. Entry evokes the tartness of homemade currant jelly or a mixed fruit pie. At just $15 a bottle, it'll make a fine companion the next time you curl up to the poetry of Roberto Bolano and nosh on a quick lunch from Chipotle. Or as I call it, Tuesday.

Very smooth, tasted black pepper on the finish. Paired with spaghetti. My husband enjoyed as well.

Inky ruby. Roasted cherry, plum, tobacco, licorice and dried flowers on the intriguingly Bordeaux-like nose and palate. Sweet and juicy, with precise flavor definition and lift. Finishes with supple, broad tannins and very good spicy length. Shows a lot of personality, not to mention impressive balance and clarity.

Nice medium-weight plum and red currant fruit is stitched with tobacco and mineral hints. Stays focused on the medium-weight finish.

Tiefes Purpur. Einladende Nase nach schwarzen Früchten, schwarzem Holunder, dezente Marzipannote, schwarzer Pfeffer. Gut strukturierter Gaumen mit viel Brombeeraromatik, etwas Tabak, schöne Schokoladenote, fein gewobene Tannine, ausdrucksvoll.

Purpurrot, rubinfarbene Reflexe.
