Winemaker's Notes:

Decanter World Wine Awards - Platinum, 95 points, Best in Category (Chardonnay over £15) Robert Parker - 91 points James Suckling - 93 points Vina Errazuriz was founded in 1870 by Don Maximiano Errazuriz and is managed by Eduardo Chadwick, a family descendant and its current President. Vina Errazuriz is recognised as on of the finest Chilean wine estates with vineyards iin the Aconcagua, Casablanca and Curico valleys. With a quality philosophy in all aspects of viticulture and vinification. Vina Errazuriz is now recongnised as a leader in Chilean and New World wine production. Moving forward and looking ahead to the future, Errazuriz have pioneered the development of the Aconcagua Costa, in addition to opening Chile's first sustainable vineyard in the region, Don Maximiano, after Errazuriz's founder. This particular Chadonnay, hails from the Aconcagua valley, a mere 12km from the Pacific Ocean in the Valparaiso region of Chile. The proximity to the Ocean has its own effect on the vineyard; cool and cold, with a risk and frost and chance of rain. The Chief Winemaker at Errazuriz, Francisco Baettig, adds that "the soils are thin and poor here, which limits yields, making it an excellent vineyard for making top quality wines. The 2014 vintage, like the rest of Vina Errazuriz's Chardonnay production is grown on clay and schist soils, adding to the wines recognisable minerality. Enjou with smoked salmon or pork. Drink now - 2021. "Subtle, nutty nose with delicate notes of mango and pineapple. Concentrated, rich palate of white flowers, stone fruits, almons, cooked butter and a refreshing salty tang. This is a beautiful young wine already with lots of personality, a great structure, a long aftertaste and incredible ageing potential." - Decanter World Wine Awards, Platinum, Best in Category Chardonnay over £15, 95 points. "It has a faint lactic nose with some smoky and spicy aromas, a core of yellow plums and waxy apples, as well as some hints of nuts with a commercial, discrete but incipient complexity; it has with an approachable profile without excess. The palate is medium-bodied, dry with pungent flavors, good length and lifted by lively acidity. Delicious!" - RP, 91 points

Errazuriz was founded in 1870 in the Aconcagua Valley, 65 miles north of the capital, Santiago, and at the foot of Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Western Hemisphere, and one of the seven summits of the world. Recognizing that this valley was ideal for growing grapes, with its hot, dry summers and cool Pacific Ocean breezes, Don Maximiano Errazuriz sent for the finest clones from France, and with tenacity and perseverance transformed this barren land into a world-class vineyard. Today, the tradition lives on with Eduardo Chadwick, the fifth generation of his family to lead this exceptional estate. Eduardo’s work has been colossal, bringing Errazuriz into a new era where it is acknowledged as a producer of world-class wines, and opened eyes around the globe as to Chile’s incredible and diverse sites. As an estate winery, Errazuriz strives to produce the finest wines through meticulous attention to every stage of viticulture and vinification, from grape growing in the Aconcagua, Casablanca and Curico valleys, to winemaking with the most natural techniques. An emphasis is placed on the delicate handling of the wines, with the aim of producing wines with elegance and complexity. It is this dynamism and passion for wine that has made Errazuriz such an internationally respected producer of quality wines. Check us out at www.errazuriz.com Read less
