Ermacora Tocai Friulano Colli Orientali del Friuli 2006

Member Review by SLICK75:

******** AVAILABLE 11/21/08 AT K and L WINES for $9.99 ******** Fantastic wine from Northeast Italy, in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia - an area known for its fantastic white wines. This wine exhibits delicate flavors but the flavors are there. Meduim / Light body, very drinkable, smooth and dry with wonderful exotic fruits, florals and minerals. The kind of wine that gets better and better as you drink it. I've found it tastes best at 58ºF - 60ºF, if it is served too cold all of the flavors and the nose disappear. After tasting this Tocai Friulano I decided to try Ermacora's other whites, a Pinot Blanc and the ubiquitous Pinot Grigio. I guess I was expecting something magical but I didn't get it. Neither of the two came close to the experience of the Tocai Friulano which tastes pretty bold when compared to the Pinot Blanc and Pinot Grigio. This wine is great as an aperitif, served with a fish course, sushi, goat cheese (Fleur Verte) and should be served chilled but not cold.
