The nose showed blackberry with savory spices, reminding me of mustard seed and pepper followed by mineral laden black stone. On the palate, it was light-to-medium bodied with zesty acidity, black fruits, grill char, herbs and orange peel. The finish was dry with cheek puckering tannin, showing tart black fruits and pepper notes.

Vibrant red purple in color. MUST let it breathe for an hour otherwise sour, red fruit & thin upon initial taste. After it breathes, the weight one expects of a Syrah comes out along with darker fruit flavors (cherries & plums) and rich mocha lushness. Silky and tannins are well integrated. Med+ acidity, med complexity and easy to drink. Dynamite with Toscano hard cheese with black pepper crust. Also good with Point Reyes Blue or Humboldt Goat cheeses.

Classic example of cool-climate Syrah from the northern Rhône. It shows fat, smoky tar and game over huckleberry and blackcurrant fruit; it has great acidity and plenty of staying power, so be sure to give it lots of air.
