What to Expect

Syrah: One of the few grapes to really be a global success. Syrah combines a meaty core of ripe berry fruit with tones that range from herbal to peppery in a package that tends to be medium bodied with good acidity and softer tannins. With age the wines can gain lovely leathery and black olive notes that make them a great match for savory and gamy dishes.

Reviews

This was very ripe with classic Syrah aromas of games, olives, black fruits, and wet earth. The palate was very velvety with high acid that hit all the right places. Fruit on the finish was sweet, but not too sweet, and had lovely persistence. Focused, very drinkable and lovely wine. Medium bodied. Very pleasant, floral nose of lilacs and blueberries. Rather nice. Soft, with light, pleasant tannins.

Mmmmm. Really delicious CDR. Pretty deep purple color. Nose is jammy, with some big red fruit. This wine is extremely fruity, with cherry and currants as the primary notes, rounded out with some white pepper and tobacco. Good structure. This is *much* better than Texier's entry-level CDR. Paired well with braised short ribs.
