Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

The wine is light in color, and somewhat translucent, like many of the quality Pinot Noirs from the Willamette Valley of Oregon. The nose has some lovely fruit, blackberry and strawberry, with some lovely earthy notes, cedar and sagebrush, just like you might smell if you were walking through the valley. The taste is very pleasant, with berries and cherry notes teasing you at the outset, gradually transitioning to some wonderfully earthy spice notes, cracked pepper. The lovely, rather mild tannins lead you to some nice vanilla notes at the end, for a lovely, long and smooth finish that beckons you to take another sip! This 2010 Pinot Noir from Oregon is very good. Deep crimson color with a mid to tight rim variation. Fruit notes of plum, black cherries and plum with a hint of vanilla and toasted oak. It has a long finish on the palette with balanced acidity. This wine will mature nicely over time (peak 2015-2018). Best served chilled to 60 degrees, and served with seared sacllops or a meaty supreme style thin crust pizza

A beautiful floral nose, intriguing scents in the back are quite enticing. The perfect blend to lead your first sip. Perfect light and floral taste on the front (much like the nose) with a gradual transition to the back of the tongue with light tannins and a smooth spice on the finish. You hardly notice the alcohol as it blends so smoothly into the body. An amazing wine, certainly one of my favorites.

Fruity like an Oregon Pinot should be.

Light fruity flavors, friendly tannins. I personally liked the Erath 08 better.

This lustrous beauty showcases aromas of raspberry pie with pleasing hints of mint, citrus and a provocative suggestion of smoke. Fresh and bright flavors on the palate are balanced with a blend of juicy cherry and racy pomegranate. An easy sipper yet enough acidity to pair beautifully with your favorite dish.

Founded in 1972 Erath Winery was one of the pioneers of Oregon Pinot Noir. When Chateau Ste. Michelle purchased it in 2006 it was their first entry into the Oregon winegrowing region and they've focused on continuing to turn out first rate, expressive Pinot Noirs like this 2009. Elegant and balanced with distinct Pinot character of black cherry and strawberry along with earthy undertones and lively acidity. A real Oregon Pinot at a great price.

Winemaker's Notes:

Wafts of red plum and raspberry intertwine with spice, soft sage and an intriguing hint of cracked pepper. The palate features flavors of juicy Bing cherry, cranberry cocktail and a late kiss of vanilla spice. A gentle coaxing of light tannins offers a pleasing pull toward another sip.
