Eos Petite Sirah 2005

Very zin-like in its sweet juiciness. Dark blueberries and raspberries on the palate. This is very hedonistic with a dessert wine feel. The finish contains some key lime pie. I would not guess this was petite sirah in a blind tasting. I decided to pair this with beef tortellini and marinara sauce and it went really well.

Scents of burnt sugar and raspberries. Tart at the start (lemony, believe it or not) with a smoky finish.

While the classic berry aromas and tastes come through clearly in this Petite Sirah, I was most surprised by two aspects. First, on the nose there is a hint of sea-air. Even more wonderful, it is followed by a distinctly present salted-caramel taste which makes it, in my limited experience, quite unique and wonderful delicious.

I just purchased the EOS 2004 *Brothers Ranch Vineyard" Petite Sirah - but they also make a "Cupa Grandis" (and possibly a Reserve).
