Editorial Reviews for Eos Petite Sirah
Very chocolaty nose with white pepper, cured meats, ground coffee and dried cherry tones. A little bit of sweet tea and flowers in the background, lots of complexity but in a fresh, clean style. Real polish on entry with the acid on top of fairly rich fruit with nicely enmeshed tannins. Nice fruit here, definitely not a sweet style but with nice fresh black cherry and black currant tones. Really well balanced and fresh feeling this doesn’t seem tiring to drink. A touch inky and blocky on the fairly long finish that offers up nice hints of tea, candied orange peel and licorice. 91pts

Add your reviewVery zin-like in its sweet juiciness. Dark blueberries and raspberries on the palate. This is very hedonistic with a dessert wine feel. The finish contains some key lime pie. I would not guess this was petite sirah in a blind tasting. I decided to pair this with beef tortellini and marinara sauce and it went really well.

While the classic berry aromas and tastes come through clearly in this Petite Sirah, I was most surprised by two aspects. First, on the nose there is a hint of sea-air. Even more wonderful, it is followed by a distinctly present salted-caramel taste which makes it, in my limited experience, quite unique and wonderful delicious.
I just purchased the EOS 2004 *Brothers Ranch Vineyard" Petite Sirah - but they also make a "Cupa Grandis" (and possibly a Reserve). It was the Cupa Grandis that won awards - I can't find any info for awards earned by the Brothers Ranch bottling: from www.esovintage.com: Cupa Grandis 2004 Petite Sirah GOLD MEDAL 2008 American Wine Society Competition RECOMMENDED "OUTRAGEOUSLY GOOD" The Wine Buzz, Sept/Oct 2008 2003 Vintage Highlights BEST PETITE SIRAH Wine & Spirits 21st Annual Buying Guide, Winter 2007 GOLD MEDAL, 94 POINTS 2007 California State Fair Wine Competition 93 POINTS Wine & Spirits, 8/07 91 POINTS The Wine Report, 9-10/07 RECOMMENDED The Wine Investor Buyer's Guide, 3/07
