smoky Syrah softens the big Cabernet Sauvignon. The spicy Syrah blends perfectly with the black pepper and cherries of the Cabernet Sauvignon. Great with leaner steaks like Filet Mignon or slightly gamey Lamb Chops.

- The color of this wine should have given me a heads up what we're dealing with here. Instead of straight-up traditional Cab colors, mixed in is a little browner/tea-leaf color, perhaps even raisin-sih. The smell is like "what up Stacy, try, just TRY, to figure out what's going on here!!!" So, I try, but darn if I'm not perplexed. There's traces of tobacco, rotting veggies (not as bad as it sounds) and fruitiness without any taking the forefront. Take these sensations and add a little raisin action for the taste. Confusing and intriguing, yes, but I think that's read more...one of this wine's greatest strengths! (hide)

- This is the kind of wine that takes you by surprise. The nose is waves of perfume and sweet tobacco, as if the caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland just offered you a puff and a glass of Cabernet Shiraz. The color and the flavor has hints of black tea, and a Chanel No. 5 situation as well. Am I in a department store? The finish has touches of hard alcohol, maybe brandy? Overall, a fascinating wine with great complexity at a fantastic value. Tasty.
