The Sociedade Vinícola Encosta Longa, located in S. João da Pesqueira, Alto Douro, sub-region Cima Corgo, constituted by 5 members of several ages and with family bounds, formed to give continuity to a wine cellar, property of the lawyer Dr. José do Carmo Sequeira, who following the tradition of many years of his ancestors produced consumable and generous wine. The criteria of development of this Society is about the construction of a wine cellar, assembly of new generation equipment and by the incentive to associates and partners (to whom they buy the grapes), making available technical support through the G & R Consultores Company, that accessorizes all the enology of this society's wines, as such to apply the best techniques on the vineyards and production. The Society kept the production of Oporto wine and produced in 2002 its first red wine, with own brand ENCOSTA LONG "Reserva 2002", lanched in the market by the end of 2003. The properties, divided by the several associates, have an extension of about 40 acres, located in S. João da Pesqueira, more precisely in Nagoselo do Douro, Vale de Figueira and in Espinho of S. João da Pesqueira (Rio Torto shores), with its main grape varieties being Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz e Tinta Barroca.
