Enate Red Bordeaux Blend Somontano Cabernet-Merlot 2007
Under the protection of the Pyrenees, or more exactly, in the Somontano, that is, "at the foot of the mountains", in the Northeast area of the province of Huesca you can find the 4.297 hectares which are home to one of Spain's most interesting wineries. This beautiful blend is a full ruby colour. It has a complex blackcurrant, blackberry aroma with a touch of violet and hints of red pepper, vanilla and herbs. There is a smooth, rounded palate with a layer of ripe tannins and a full-flavoured, toasty finish. A good balance of acidity will enable the wine to improve in bottle for up to five years. Serve this with hot and cold meats, cheeses and even fish in a rich sauce. Best served between 14°C and 16°C.

At Enate, modern winemaking techniques have been linked to Spanish traditions by winemaker Jesus Artajona, whose experience has been gained at leading Spanish and French vineyards, including Chateau Margaux. Spanish and UK authorities and wine writers agree that Enate's wines are world class: in a recent tasting of all Somontano wines in Spain, Enate came top in every category they entered. Here, the Institute of Masters of Wine awarded the Crianza 1992 a Certificate of Excellence - not bad for their first vintage production....
