Emiliana Coyam Red Blend Colchagua Valley 2009
Coyam is an intense violet plum red in color with a nose that expresses aromas of ripe red fruits, plums, berries, and black fruits that meld elegantly with notes of spice, earth, and a touch of sweet vanilla. Well balanced and big bodied on the palate, with good structure and soft, round tannins. An intense, complex wine full of character. Recommended for cellaring. Food Pairing Suggestion: Big‐bodied red wines like this one should be accompanied by full flavored dishes such as: Wagyu Rib‐eye with potatoes au gratin, Baby Goat Ribs roasted in an adobe oven or Spit‐Roasted Lamb.
Emiliana is the largest organically farmed vineyard in the world and Coyam is the product of one of the only Biodynamically farmed vineyards in Chile. A true Chilean Red Blend, no constraints, no rules, just a winemaker (Alvaro Espinoza in this case) using the best fruit available. Sure you can buy Almaviva for triple the price of this wine, but why bother (Almaviva is excellent)? Coyam offers leather on the nose, a slight cherry and ripe plum taste on the palate leading to delicious prosciutto tastes as it finishes.
