Emiliana is the largest organically farmed vineyard in the world and Coyam is the product of one of the only Biodynamically farmed vineyards in Chile. A true Chilean Red Blend, no constraints, no rules, just a winemaker (Alvaro Espinoza in this case) using the best fruit available. Sure you can buy Almaviva for triple the price of this wine, but why bother (Almaviva is excellent)? Coyam offers leather on the nose, a slight cherry and ripe plum taste on the palate leading to delicious prosciutto tastes as it finishes.

Rich very spicy nose with good intensity. High tannin, medium plus to high alcohol, full in body with rich concentrated fruit. very intense with a long finish and rich ripe fruit. Meaty notes with flavors of mulberry, spice and hints of herbs.

This is one of my favourite wines. It is still young and as it matures it will definitely become a superstar. This wine is part of my cellar and I will be saving a couple cases to drink when it has reached maturity, in the meantime I will continue to appreciate its youthful presence. The complexity of this wine will only continue to reveal itself as it ages.

Drank November 2008 / an absolute powerhouse / a Chilean blend of six grapes - syrah, merlot, carmenere, cabernet sauvignon, mourvedre, & malbec / this is not a subtle wine - not a match for light fare by any means, but a good stand-alone wine / would like to see where it goes, mellow and soften with time? / $24 range

Very nice. Peppery on nose and first sip then ends with fruit. Enjoyed with rare rib eye steak!

41% syrah, 29% carmenere, 20% merlot, 7% cabernet sauvignon, 2% mourvedre, 1% petit verdot. Opaque and purple black to the rim. Concentrated and powerful aromas of blackberry and currant lie underneath pleasant herbal notes, indicative of carmenere i... Chuck Hayward. Coyam is an intense violet plum red in color with a nose that expresses aromas of ripe red fruits, plums, berries, and black fruits that meld elegantly with notes of spice, earth, and a touch of sweet vanilla.

Ripe and muscular, with freshly plowed dark earth, currant, fig, bittersweet cocoa and tobacco notes all wound up under a layer of dark, spicy toast. Graphite and minerality lurk on the finish. Syrah, Merlot, Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec.

Tasting Notes:

Juicy on the palate, with sweet, ripe tannins that lend good structure and volume. Fresh and elegant with a lingering finish.

Recommended for Aging.
