Editorial Reviews for Emidio Pepe Trebbiano d'Abruzzo
As usually a pretty unusual nose. Apple juice and orange marmalade greet the nose then notes of bees wax, clay tile, dried pineapple, dried red currant, drying bitter orange, citrus zest and musky greengage plum and gooseberry jam riot in the glass. Bright and juicy in the mouth with piercing acidity this is coiled and very youthful with a raw, esgy feel. The finish offers up more high pitched aromatics with a sharply floral and waxy tone. The palate never fully reveals itself though there is a bit of banana pith on the mid-palate and a subtly tone of minty vitamins. Still a baby. 91pts
As usual this has a fairly effusive nose of lanolin, flowers, and waxy banana peel and dried orange rind all peppered with sand and salt tones. As it warms it reveals a bit of more obvious fruit that leans towards the slightly vegetal sweetness of yellow tomato.Clean and acid driven in the mouth with motes of baked clay, yellow fruit and slightly smoky mineral spice. There is nice weight here and excellent length but the wine is a bit tight tonight and perhaps getting more so with time. 2009-2019 90pts
This smells more like a red wine than a white. There are just layers and layers of complex aromatics, dry earth and almond shells to start off then a bit of mint and a fleshy veal tone before subtle orange blossom notes pop and a huge wave of green tea follows. Ever evolving with notes of dried orange peel, chamomille, and subtle pine resin notes emerging in the glass. This is rich and focused in the mouth with solid acids and juicy bitter orange and lemon fruits. Long and sapid on the finish this is firm and focused with many years of positive development ahead 92pts

This beautiful white wine is foot trodden in wooden tubs in order to avoid the contact between the iron presses and the acids of the fruit. The result is a white wine that's slightly golden hued, well-balanced and complex, with hints of nuts and yellow fruits.
