Emblem Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford 2006

medium dark garnet, medium plus body, full and slightly rough tannin, could use a bit more acidity and aromatic intensity (but suspect maybe I just have nose issues today) pencil lead, beef jerky, blackcurrant. Enjoyable now.

Meaty and earthy, blackberry aromas. This is a big wine, full of drying tannins, dusty earth and deep ripe black fruit flavors.

Smells like a bright, ripe fruit bomb. In the mouth it's not quite as full-bodied as I was expecting - starts with a lean acidity and lots of red cherry. Very slight oak and a nicely complex finish. No complaints here.

Very rich, kind of dark chocolate and tobacco aroma. The mouth is very acidic, and a bit tannic. The body and length are really good. If you like chocolate or cigars, give this a shot.

First, there's the backyard: freshly shoveled soil, clips of St. Augustine, and blackberries, ripening, collecting dust in the sun. Fat, rich, dark fruit and a bit of chocolate in the mouth.

Light purple color. Aromatic nose of clove, vanilla, and blackberry pie. Medium weight in the mouth with a broad entry that is balanced with a fantastic streak of acidity that carries through seamlessly along the mid-palate. Enough tannin in this wine to show its youth, but I think this is going to age nicely. Very nice finish. Every wine I've tasted from Folio (Michael Mondavi family) has a common theme of elegance and "old school" Napa winemaking.
