What to Expect

Pinot Grigio is one of the world's most popular wines. Also known under the French moniker "Pinot Gris", and even the German "Ruländer" among others, Pinot Grigio is a chameleon of a grape. It is produced in a range of styles, from the light fruity Italian style that has gained popularity, to a more mineral, flinty rich wine favored by the French - particularly in Alsace - and emulated by many in the new world.

Editorial Reviews

This has improved since last time I tried it. It is now quite fragrant with dusty notes and soft spice tones adding some complexity to the slightly baked apple fruit. Smells a bit quartzy/steely with a touch of spearmint and an insinuation of cheese rind. Nice round entry with a wave of sweet pear and light pineapple fruit supported by bright acids and tinted with just a hint of dried tropical fruits. The nice clean finish has a touch of minerality and lingering ripe fruit tones that show a hint more citrus character. A very flavorful and balanced example of Pinot Gris that seems as ideally suited for read more...

This is a rich Pinot Gris with tones of tropical fruit character. The nose offers up deep, sweet almost honied fruit tones and the palate is soft and rich with a hint of dried mango and papaya before turning more citrusy and bright on the long finish. Pretty big scaled but with wonderful balance. 88pts

I had this wine last summer and loved it.. and that's coming from a guy that usually drinks red. Very tasty!

I loved this wine from the get go. It's vibrant flavor was immediately apparent, and the finish was smooth and simple. Light fruity flavors without the sweet so none of the flavors were drowned out. This is now a permanent favorite.

Always one of the best Pinot gris in Oregon. Big tropical fruit and melon inn the nose. Tons of delicious fruit--bright pineapple, mango, peach, tangerine, and grapefruit. Medium bodied with bright, citrusy acidity and minerality in the finish.

The Elk Cove Vineyards Pinot Gris starts out with sweet aromatic fruits of the tropics; pineapple, guava and a touch of honeysuckle, hinting of springtime freshness, while also giving crispness on the palate with citrus and grapefruit. Yet true to the Elk Cove Vineyards' style, there is a rich mouthfeel to give a full and satisfying balanced finish. Drink this lovely white wine as an aperitif or with a variety of food pairings from salmon and main-course salads to Asian and Thai influenced dishes. The Willamette Valley has a suitable climate for this delicate grape variety-enough sunlight read more...

We really like this wine. It's deep enough to satisfy those who want more than the usually light pinot grigio wines. It offers a very soft hint of spice and fruity that is more robust than most. Great with chicken based salads.
