"Good winemaking is evident here. This is clean and fresh, with light, appealing flavors of berry, cola and chocolate-covered espresso bean. The wine has a smooth, silky texture, and feels substantial without being fat or hot. It is certainly ageworthy and it wouldn't surprise me if it lasted a decade or more. But tough to keep your hands off it right now." 90 points - Wine Spectator

- The 120 acres Elk Cove Vineyards is another of Oregon's pioneering wineries, having a track record that stretches back to 1974. Founded by Pat and Joe Campbell, the winemaking responsibilities are now in the hands of son Adam Campbell. The emphasis for many years has been the creation of single vineyard pinot releases to complement the larger production sites. All of the reds reviewed here were bottled unfined and unfiltered. Still, this is easy to like and should reward a few years in bottle first if you prefer to wait. (hide)
