Elio Grasso Dolcetto d'Alba Monforte d'Alba 2009
The nose showed ripe blackberries, with floral undergrowth and a hint of bouillon. On the palate, it was soft and enveloping in a mid-weight style with blackberries, a hint of sweet spice and a touch rustic with juicy acidity. The finish was pleasant and fresh just as a Dolcetto should be. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
External Reviews for Elio Grasso Dolcetto d'Alba Monforte d'Alba
The 2009 Dolcetto d'Alba "Dei Grassi" is a gorgeous, mid-weight wine laced with varietal dark fruit, tar and licorice. There is an interplay of classic Dolcetto aromas and flavors with the textural finesse of contemporary winemaking I find particularly appealing. This isn't a blockbuster Dolcetto, rather it is a wine that relies on finesse. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2013.
