Elena Walch Pinot Grigio Alto Adige Südtirol 2010
Colour: Shiny yellow. Nose: Intensive, concentrated fruit, reminiscent of rose petals and apricots. Flavour: Nice aromas on the palate, intensive but full of finesse. Notes: A spicy wine, persistent on the finish. Goes well with: As a full-flavoured aperitif and as an accompaniment to a range of dishes, including savoury first courses and grilled fish.
RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
Editorial Reviews for Elena Walch Pinot Grigio Alto Adige Südtirol
Super perfumes on the nose are full of oily herbs, a smoky undertone, violets, fresh flowers, fresh fruits, a little blueberry and some fresh oak. This is bright on entry with an early wood sweetness. Terrific fruit with real energy and lovely freshness. This shows off pure inner mouth perfumes of sour plum and black currant, which drive onto the bright and persistent fruit-driven finish. 92pts
Clear and transparent, not very consistent, straw-yellow colour. Despite the age, still a pretty acid taste. Very intense fruity aromas.
Had at Merrimans for birthday
Crisp mineral nose with a faint sulfur quality. Moderate-to-high acidity in the mouth with a light body and notes of green peppers and grass. Bizarre almost nonexistent finish. Well made but a little weak overall for me.
Crisp linens, fresh flowers, clean air on the nose; it's a modest little cottage, freshly prepped for guests. Citrus-and-flint notes throughout, twisty acidity on the finish.
Steely and crisp citrus aromas. Lightly flavored of lime and melon. Short finish.
The nose is fairly powerful, very floral, with peach and green apple. The grannie smith comes across stronger on the mouth, with strong acidity. A mineral edge helps fill out the body, but it could use something else, a butteriness or hint of oak would have been nice. I would give a 3.5 for aroma and 2 for mouth.
Mushrooms and briny oysters on the nose - mercaptans. Much more flavorful in the mouth, with bay leaf and pear flavors.
External Reviews for Elena Walch Pinot Grigio Alto Adige Südtirol
Elena Walch makes some very respectable wines, not the least of which is her lovely Pinot Grigio. This is fresh, round in texture, and full of floral and yellow plum fruits on the palate. Dry and delicious.
Der Pinot Grigio Castel Ringberg ist ein säurearmer Weisswein von opulenter Frucht. Ein Gewächs von buttriger Fülle und samtener Milde, das sehr gekonnt Würze mit Eleganz verbindet.
