Artesa Vineyards in the Carneros region of Napa/Sonoma is well known for producing outstanding wines from traditional Carneros grapes; Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. With their Elements line they branch out and source grapes from throughout the two valleys. We were lucky to grab this 2007 Cabernet, made from mountain-grown fruit; 71% form Napa and 29% from Sonoma. Produced in their state-of-the-art facility this Cab was aged 24 months in French oak before bottling. Wine Enthusiast Magazine called it "A really nice, classically structured Cabernet that can stand beside bottles costing far more. The blackberry and cherry flavors have a touch of sweet oak. With savory acidity, it's good to go now."
Winemaker's Notes:
A blend of mostly Bordeaux varietals with a touch of Syrah, this smooth, silky wine coats the palate with intense fruit flavors - dark cherry, cassis - enriched with milk chocolate and toffee. Sweet oak chimes in to create a beautiful harmony, and fine tannins lengthen the supple texture of this well-balanced, full bodied wine. 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot, 2% Malbec, 2% Syrah, 1% Petit Verdot
