El Coto Imaz Reserva Rioja 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

This Coto de Imaz wine is made from a selection of the best grapes of the El Coto producer. This wine macerates on the skins lasts for 3-4 weeks, and is then aged in oak for 16 months. Both wines nicely combine the traditional oak characters of Rioja with a freshness and fleshiness of fruit that make them very classy indeed. This Reserva Rioja is deep ruby red in colour with orange tones. The nose shows a wide range of delicate red fruit accompanied by smoky nuances and hints of vanilla from the new American oak. On the palate the wine is velvety and round, with smooth tannins and good acidity from the Tempranillo. The finish is soft, balanced and long lasting.

It is located in Oyón (Álava), with a total surface of 110.000 m2, more than 50.000 of which are occupied by buildings. Our vineyards are located in Cenicero (Rioja Alta), close to the Najerilla river (a tributary to the Ebro river), facing Northwest and with a, predominantly, ferric-clayey soil.
