Edmunds St. John Red Rhone Blend California Rocks and Gravel 2004

Member Review by abitmorewine:

Purchased this on the suggestion of an employee of a local wine shop. Light, but still very full bodied. It was able to hold it's own with lasagna loaded with roasted garlic. The price-point might be a bit high, but it was a nice easy drinking bottle - great for an Monday evening in October.

Edmunds St. John:
We have little taste for most of the wines of the New World and Australia; however, we greatly admire some of those produced by the "second generation" of California vintners, ... above all, those of the astonishing Steve Edmunds; his wines do more than express the particular personality of the vintner and have entered the arena of those that are an expression of the land and culture.

This wine is a bit on the wild side. A blend of red Rhône grape varieties, it zings with flavors of baked plum, dried cherry, white pepper, a bit of licorice, and some floral notes. From Paso Robles fruit.
