Edmunds St. John Bone-Jolly Gamay Noir Rosé Witters Vineyard 2013
Not yet reviewed; 2012 vintage rated 91 points by International Wine Cellar: Bright violet color. Dried cherry, raspberry and musky herbs on the bright, mineral-inflected nose. Juicy and precise on entry, then fleshier in the mid-palate, offering spicy red and dark berry flavors that unfold and deepen with air. The spiciness builds on the long, nervy finish, which features bitter cherry and sexy floral pastille elements. I'd love to line this up alongside some top-notch wines from Cote de Brouilly.
We have little taste for most of the wines of the New World and Australia; however, we greatly admire some of those produced by the "second generation" of California vintners, ... above all, those of the astonishing Steve Edmunds; his wines do more than express the particular personality of the vintner and have entered the arena of those that are an expression of the land and culture.

Made from California-grown gamay, this bright pink wine has fresh strawberry and orange zest aromas giving it a bright mineral lift. Crisp and energetic, with clean citrus and red berry flavors and a long, brisk finish.
Yeah, we couldn't believe it either. A Gamay from California that tastes like Gamay! This is clean and fruity with aromas of violets and cherries. It's a charmer and a wine you can nuzzle up to anytime.
