Edmeades Winery Zinfandel Mendocino Ridge Late Harvest Perli Vineyard 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Tasting Notes Dried cranberries, cherries, pepper, boysenberries, brandied soaked pears, and peaches all dance through the aromas ensemble, with no leading character. Layers of new French oak and deep, concentrated color lead into the depths of the wine. Like spelunking into an unexplored cave, each new sniff leads onto another, full of surprises. Each aroma opens up to new aromas, starting off tight but then getting broader and changing into a rich, thick bouquet of spices and berries. Structured for many years of cellar aging, this wine is one Zinfandel built to last.

Edmeades Winery:
The first row of vines were barely in the ground when the neighbors began lining up to lean on their shovels and scoff. Grapes in Anderson Valley? Nobody could make it work, they insisted. The naysayers grew so vocal that Dr. Donald Edmeades dragged some old redwood planks out from behind the barn, found some red paint, and christened his vineyard with a sign out on Highway 128: "Edmeades' Folly."
