Edmeades Winery Zinfandel Mendocino County 2004
"Red Wine Zinfandel by Edmeades from North Coast, California. The first row of vines were barely in the ground when the neighbors began lining up to lean on their shovels and scoff. Grapes in Anderson Valley? Nobody could make it work, they insisted. The naysayers grew so vocal that Dr. Donald Edmeades dragged some old redwood planks out from behind the barn, found some red paint, and christened his vineyard with a sign out on Highway 128: "Edmeades' Folly."
Smooth with cherry. Small amounts of Syrah and petite syrah.
Color-black/red; nose-big fruit & spice; mouth-full fruit & coco; finish-long buy it share it age it
Clear, purple, medium color. Hints of cherry, coffee, oak, vanilla. Good fruit up front, medium acid, mod. Tannin with long finish. Very nice zinfandel. Fairly tannic and a little young, might benefit from some aging.
Another great, powerful, jammy zin. I like, good price.
A voluptuous Zinfandel. It has a big nose, a velvety mouthfeel, it offers white pepper against dark and red fruit. The baance of fruit, acidity, and tannin was impeccable. It was still great 5 years after bottling.
Carries the aromas of cherry, dark berries, spine, and a hint of coffee. Very earthen taste.
Two and a half glasses
