Edetaria "Vinya d'Irto" Terra Alta 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

Date: January 2009 Tasting Bar Price: $1.40/taste Half Off Tuesday Price: $.70/tasteAccording to Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: Medium red. Highly expressive bouquet evokes raspberry, cherry, candied plum and fresh flowers. Deep and sweet, with round red fruit flavors, gentle tannins and good finishing sweetness. This is delicious now. (Jul/Aug 08) From Wine Spectator: A licorice note underscores flavors of blackberry, coffee and spice in this fleshy red. Light tannins show on the tangy finish. Drink now. 800 cases imported. (Web Only, 2008)Edetaria only produces wine from its own vineyards. It does this in order to control the production process from the very beginning, because the vineyards are the most important part of wine making for the estate. Edetaria owns 38 hectares, 24 of which are vineyards. A high percentage of these are old vineyards of Garnacha, Carignan, Garnacha Blanca, Garnacha Peluda and other indigenous varieties from the area. This red is a blend of Garnacha 60%, cabernet sauvignon 20% and merlot 20% aged 4 months in oak. It is teeming with berry and stone fruit, spice, tannin and structure, as well as value! Drink it with anything cooked over the grill. Chicken fajitas perhaps?
