Eben Sadie Columella 2007
Eben Sadie has a reputation as the 'enfant terrible' of South African wine. He started off his wine-making career at Charles Back's Spice Route winery, and set up his own vineyard over 10 years ago. Tim Atkin calls this "one of the greatest Cape reds I’d ever tried." It is red and black fruits and spices on the nose. The palate is concentrated, full and shows good complexity. A real treat, delicious on a cold autumn evening!
The Sadie Family is a South African producer of wine located in the Swartland region. Following the emergence of flagship wines Columella and Palladius, winemaker Eben Sadie is South Africa's first certified celebrity winemaker. The Sadie Family has enjoyed success beyond any other modern South African wine producer as Columella is the most highly rated South African wine, and the only to achieve a 95 point rating by US wine magazine Wine Spectator.
